There was a time when downsizing from the family home,  once the kids moved out,  meant making a sea change or tree change. However, today’s Downsizers have very different goals.  

Firstly, they’re likely to think Local – keen to stay close to family, friends and the action of nearby amenities. They’re also looking for ‘luxe’ – a stylish home in a very small building that’s low on maintenance and affords loads of privacy.  

Many downsizers are now drawn to the low-maintenance lifestyle and amenities of luxury apartments.

Obviously, larger homes carry higher maintenance costs, and that can be a real imposition for people, particularly as they enter Retirement...  It’s one of the many attractive reasons to Downsize and even the Younger corporate-types are on board with this mantra, favouring 'Convenience and Lifestyle' over unnecessary size and maintenance.

It's no secret that there are many potential Downsizers out there living in large homes with unused rooms and ongoing maintenance, particularly in suburbs around 10 to 15 kilometres from the CBD.  These are the people opting to Downsize, whilst also Upgrading their lifestyle enjoyment at the same time.


Luxury amenities  

A vital element for modern Downsizers is access to luxury amenities that will enhance their everyday lifestyle.  For example, they’re seeking facilities such as on-site swimming pools for fitness, low-maintenance garden terraces with pots instead of Lawns and close proximity to the Beach and Harbour for easy strolling to Coffee shops and Dining establishments.  


Low-maintenance lifestyle  

After years of maintaining large homes and wasting their weekends mowing the lawns, today’s Downsizers are rapidly embracing fuss-free living.  They are very particular and want small buildings that are easy to 'lock up and leave' when going away, knowing everything is safe and secure.


Neighbours... LESS is MORE.

A large emphasis these days is placed on small boutique buildings comprising just one, two or three owners.   Let's face it, personality clashes often occur between owners in large multi-level apartment complexes and things don't get LESS complicated when you add MORE people.  Therefore, small boutique buildings are always more in demand and they rightfully command higher prices from avid Downsizer Buyers in their quest for a relaxed carefree lifestyle where their Privacy is assured.
